Our staff is comprised of professionals with a broad depth of funeral and cremation experience.  We are dedicated to helping direct you through this stressful and difficult time. Melissa Beall

Melissa Beall

General Manager

Melissa Beall is a licensed funeral director and embalmer and has been since 2011.  Melissa joined Longview Funeral Home & Cemetery in March of 2015. 

Melissa grew up in Lee’s Summit, Mo. and is excited to be back in her hometown area, close to friends and family, helping and educating the community. Melissa began her student work in 2009 at McGilley & Hoge Chapel in Overland Park, Ks. before relocating for her apprenticeship in 2011. After completing her apprenticeship at Springfield Mortuary Service in Springfield, Mo., Melissa continued employment at the location to gain further experience before taking a position as a funeral director and embalmer at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, Mo. in 2014. 

Melissa holds her associate degree in Mortuary Science from Kansas City Kansas Community College, earned after completing her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Chemistry from UMKC. She furthered her education by completing her master’s in Business Administration, MBA, in 2013 from the University of Phoenix to better help her understand the business side of the funeral industry.

Melissa currently resides in Raytown, Missouri with her significant other. She is on the Board of Directors for the Raytown Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors for the Grandview Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce and Raymore Chamber of Commerce, an active volunteer for Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street (winning the New Member Dynamo award in 2016), and sits on several committees. 

Comfort and trust of families is most important to Melissa. This is why she believes in bringing customer service back to the forefront and takes pride in honoring the wishes of each family to express their love of the lives they've lost.

Charley Harper

Charley Harper

Administrative Assistant

Charley joined the Signature group in 2017 at Longview and became the full time administrator at our Terrace Park the beginning of 2018, to then come back to Longview as the Administrator in June 2018.

She grew up in Adrian, Missouri and still enjoys country life and the pace of the city.  In her free time she enjoys crafting, painting and cooking; especially trying new recipes from all over the world.

Charley is the mother of 3 and grandmother of 1. Her oldest son is serving in the Army and oldest daughter in the Coast Guard. She lives in Independence with her boyfriend and their son.

She gets great satisfaction working at Longview and feels she is making a difference in the lives of the families we serve.

Desiree Paananen

Desiree Paananen

General Sales Manager

Desiree Paananen has been in the death care industry for over 4 years.  Her experience in this industry started in memorial design.  She believes that memorializing the life of a loved one can bring comfort to a family and hopefully help their healing begin. 

Desiree is currently completing her bachelor’s degree in Business Management at Cardinal Stritch University in Wisconsin.  She recently moved to the Kansas City area from Wisconsin as Sales Manager to join the team at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, Terrace Park Memorial Gardens and Longview.  She enjoys this role as it allows her to strengthen her experience in Customer Service and Sales Leadership roles.  Desiree is extremely passionate about helping families through difficult times



Megan Breedlove

Megan Breedlove

Family Service Counselor

Megan joined the death care industry in 2018. She is grateful and honored for the opportunity to serve families in the community who are struggling with loss as she aspires to continue making a difference in people's lives with her care and compassion.

Born and raised in the area, Megan has a strong presence in the community and volunteers for several local organizations. Megan attended the University of Central Missouri, later receiving her bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management. Following this, she met her caring husband and gained a full family with 3 step-sons. Megan is currently raising her three sons and now lives in Lee's Summit, MO. Spending time with family is a top priority.

Joe Rogers

Joe Rogers

Cemetery Superintendent

Joe Rogers is currently the Superintendent of Longview Cemetery and Terrace Park Cemetery, after accepting a promotion in August 2018 to operate both cemeteries. We are grateful to have his experience and see what he brings to the cemetery in his new role. 

Joe Rogers transferred to Longview Cemetery in 2016 after having been with Johnson County Memorial Gardens for over five years as part of the cemetery maintenance personnel. Joe started his career with Johnson County as a seasonal employee and was soon promoted to a full-time position. Joe had become a dedicated leader to the rest of the cemetery staff with responsibilities including backhoe operation, placing markers, general upkeep of the indoor and outdoor mausoleums, and many other tasks.

Joe currently resides in Kansas City with his girlfriend and 8 year old son, Aiden. A Kansas City native, Joe continues to enjoy exploring the city in his free time. He also appreciates spending unending hours with his extended family in the area, time in his large garden and working on small home projects. As most from Kansas City, Joe enjoys barbequing and taking in a great Chiefs game!

Lee Rogers

Lee Rogers

Cemetery Maintenance

Lee was born in Kansas City, MO in 1984 and is a graduate of Independence Academy. He joined the Terrace Park Team in February of 2015 with over ten years’ experience in cemetery maintenance. He transferred to Longview Cemetery in 2018.

He loves the Kansas City Chiefs, outdoor activities—especially camping and fishing—and spending time with his family. Lee enjoys the relationships he has made with those who visit the cemetery, building supportive relationships with his co-workers and being able to work outside. Lee and his longtime girlfriend, Sara, live in independence with their beloved rescue dog, Peanut.


Libby Reed

Libby Reed

Funeral Ambassador

Libby came on board with Longview Funeral Home & Cemetery in 2015. 


She has spent most of her life in the Independence, Missouri area. She raised 3 children, which led to having 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She worked for Raytown Hy-Vee for 24 years, which she retired from in 2013. 


She enjoys yard work, quilting, and traveling.




Barry Beall

Funeral Ambassador

Barry grew up in California primarily and relocated to Lee's Summit, Missouri to raise his family in the 1980's. He moved to Phoenix, AZ in the early 2000s, where he ran his own business for over 10 years but decided in 2015 that it was time to head back to Kansas City to be closer to his two daughters, so he closed his business and relocated again. That brought him to Longview to work with his youngest daughter, Melissa, as an ambassador part-time. 


Barry joined the Longview Funeral Home & Cemetery team in January 2016.
